Do you know how ultrarunners run for days?
How swimmers stare at a blue line for thirty hours a week?
It is how you do anything that is sad, scary, or simply grinds you down –
One step at a time.
Don’t be at the end until it is literally under your feet.
If a runner can use presence to survive 100 miles, you can use it to survive a Tuesday.
We love to flirt with the future. Don’t.
Be business-like. In and out like it’s radioactive.
Have a plan, but chunk it down into steps – critically, what you can do now.
This is what makes hard things simple.
No squirm. No room for wild imaginings.
Just the moment you find yourself in.
You always can do now. It’s the future we can’t handle.
That is what wears us down and tears us up.
Overwhelm is just a gap –
The distance between where you are and where you think you’re heading.
Living in the destination while your body is still at the start is the crack where the mayhem gets in.
Exhaustion isn't the physical demand.
It is the load of the "what next" and the "what if" in your head.
That is what kicks your butt.
Boredom is the same mechanical slip.
It is refusing to engage with now because the mind says the grass is greener elsewhere.
It is a lie.
You see? This is how you engage the world but free yourself from suffering –
Stay where your feet are.
“Be here, now” isn't a poetic suggestion.
It’s a sanctuary.
A shelter for the storms and a power source for when the climb seems endless.
You can’t do the whole journey.
But you can do now.
So – Just. Do. Now.
Go well,
Arjuna
PS.
This won’t be news to many of you. But you need to know how crucial to a life well lived it is.
Even if life is easy right now, practice. This is the perfect time.
We don’t rise to the occasion, we do indeed fall to the level of our practice.
PPS.
