Want stuff, don’t need stuff

It’s okay to hope for things, to desire them. That’s not the problem.

The problem is when the hoping and desiring means you are no longer present. When your desire removes you from now.

The problem is when the absence of your desire or goal means you’re unhappy and unfulfilled until such a future moment where your dream comes true. Which, if you look around, is a big problem.

Free yourself from desire … but not by giving up desire.

Randy Jackson, the music producer and American Idol judge, explained it when he said:

“Want what you need; don’t need what you want.”

Future peace and future fulfillment are like tomorrow: never coming, not truly. So, don’t delay your peace: Want stuff but don’t need stuff.

That’s the problem with hope and desire. Don’t let it control you. Don’t be dependent on an if and when … which is basically a dream. Don’t let your life be filled with dreams with no substance. Make substance now.

Desire and goals are fine, they’re necessary even. Just don’t be attached.
