Things to remember as you go about your day

“Each of you is perfect the way you are ... and you can use a little improvement.”

— Shunryu Suzuki

Remember –

You are a fine being doing an extraordinary job in the circumstances, regardless of the circumstances.

With the right approach, you’ll get better.

The world is full of hurt, turmoil and greed, but there is infinitely more beauty and love.

Life will life you – but love always wins.

Focus on what you can control; let go of what you can’t.

Sometimes all you have to work with is your attitude and your perception.

“Isn’t it the very last thing we feel grateful for - having happened? You needn't have happened. But you did happen.” — Douglas Harding

And you are happening.

Within you lies a place free from trauma and suffering, doubt and fear, arrogance or humility. Your job is to be that foundation and live.

Everything depends, everything changes; except for this one place where you can stand tall.

Perfection only exists for a moment, but it can be found in every new moment.

One of the most precious things you possess is your sense of humour.

Contribute. Don’t wait to be asked. Look for what is needed and help.

When you have your life together, you can help so much more. And with a genuine smile.

It’s okay to ask for help. Don’t rely solely on your own strength.

All strengths become weaknesses taken too far.

Have high standards, but don’t punish yourself when you fall short.

“Fall down seven times; stand up eight.” — Japanese proverb

“If it's important, do it every day. If it's not important, don't do it at all.” — Dan Gable

Work out what’s truly important, to you.

Expectations are premeditated resentments.

Be clear but recognise you’re not talking to you in a different body.

If they want something different, that’s okay. What you do with that is up to you.

Be where your feet are.

“Life is what happens when we’re busy making other plans.” — John Lennon

Life is to be lived. This’ll take more courage than you might expect.

You can handle the truth.

Take time to take stock; but live without too much ado about it.

The menu is not the meal.

Philosophy is a fine thing; practical experience is everything.

Think less and taste more.

Find the art of sailing as opposed to the art of rowing (Alan Watts – YouTube him).

Slow down. Smell the roses along the way.

It’s not the destination; it’s the journey.

“When you get to the top of the mountain, keep climbing.” – Zen saying

Cliches become cliches because they are true.

And that’ll do. More than enough to remember for one day.

Oh – one more thing:

“Those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”

— Nietzsche

You get to decide.

Just because they don’t see what you see and hear what you hear matters not.

You get to choose.

Whether they join you or not, doesn’t matter.

Make this life yours.

Go well,

Arjuna
