No better purpose

“I know no better purpose for life than to die in service of the great and the impossible, animae magnae prodigus [a generous man with a great spirit].”

— Nietzsche

I’m feeling a little grandiose this morning, so buckle up.

Someone once asked me what the kindest and compassionate thing one could do was.

They were in a moment where the kindest thing for them was to stop pushing. It was rest, respite, renewal and revitalisation. Time to recharge before recalibration. Refill so they can truly help their people without resentment and burnout.

But compassion is a many faceted gem; it’s always shifting.

Ultimately, what is THE kindest is to align yourself with the life you were born to live.

You have certain skills and interests, energies and abilities. There’s a cross-section between these and how you might generously serve the greater good.

It’s the height of compassion, to you and your people, to find what these are and bring them forth as soon as possible.

Now, often we’re waiting for permission to do such a thing, or even take a sniff down the path.

It seems like too much fun, you see … and fun, as we’ve been conditioned, isn’t worthwhile. That’s what you do after you do the work, if you have the time and energy.

Couldn’t be further than the truth.

While “blood, sweat and tears” has a noble ring, living the life you are born to live won’t require suffering – it requires the opposite.

Joy – making the most of your moments, regardless of what they contain – is key, as Joseph Campbell once wrote, “Follow your bliss” ...

Devoting your life to something higher than your small self ... this is where you find joy but also fulfilment, meaning, purpose. The height of satisfaction.

And that is something well worth pursuing. Life is short. Might as well pursue the sweetest fruit you can find.

By the way, you already are generous with the grandest of spirits.

It’s the fear that gets in the way of its full expression, and so overcoming fear is part and parcel of this great work. It's a great mission but it’s important you know it’s not impossible.

How?

Within you lay the answers, as well as freedom from fear. Your highest self is fearless. Here now is fearless.

The present moment is completely loving. Without judgement or need or conditions, the essence of now embraces you as soon as you bring your attention to it. It's a sanctuary from all ills.

Follow that.

If you want my help with finding and being that, let me know. This is ultimately what I do, and I want to serve. Reply/message me and we can chat about where you’re at and where you want to go.

Whatever you do, have fun and go well. Alrighty?
