The spark that you are

Hey! Happy new year and all that good stuff.

Before we dive into today, make sure you check out that free workshop I made on how to be more mindful and live a more fun, focussed and calm life.

I wanted to make it as practical as I could, so have a look and give some things a go – and let me know what you think.

Enjoy!

I have had the good fortune to meet some incredible people.

They’re incredible because they all taught me something of immense value.

Usually it wasn’t a skill, although they may have taught me a great deal of that, so much as giving me something much more priceless –

Attitude.

Attitudes are not so much about what to do, but how to do it. A transferrable approach to everything in life.

“Is this happening to me, or for me?” is a fine example of such an attitude, and Good people have demonstrated these loud and clear in that beautiful way of all great people –

Not so much what I say, but what I do.

These attitudes have made the journey through life smoother, but sometimes they’ve made it harder – in that often the lesson is that the quick and easy isn’t always the way to something valuable.

Even the people I’ve met that have hurt have been valuable … they taught me (maybe with time) that I wanted to do and be the direct opposite.

They also taught me understanding. That everyone is who and what they are for a reason –

They were taught, I was taught, you were taught, we all were taught how to live.

While these ways have become almost “natural”, it doesn’t mean they’re all that skilful, or kind.

This “natural” programming – its sneaky, isn’t it? You just think it’s the way you do life because that’s how those big people around you did it, and so rarely do you stop and question.

Stopping and questioning takes openness and humility and getting it wrong, but all of that discomfort in unfamiliar territory is so worthwhile.

Good people help me stay on track in the middle of this. They shine a light at the end of the tunnel I can aim towards. So much nicer than wandering in the dark, alone.

Most of all, these Good people haven’t taught me skills or attitudes, but they’ve taught me about the human spirit.

That spark – that ineffable sense of Quality, of Soul, of the Self …

The heart of who we truly are.

It’s the realest thing about you. And you certainly know when you’re living close to it, and when it seems like it’s gone away.

The hardest times of my life were when I felt like I’d lost my connection to this indescribable thing (and then those Good people in my life kept me afloat until I found my way back to myself).

As such, I reckon one of, if not the most, important task in life is to really discover what ‘It’ is within you,

To learn to recognise your presence so it becomes such a permanent feature you can’t lose it.

It’s vital because it’s your guide, your GPS, your Teacher.

Following it you become such a person of Good, of Soul, that you make the greatest difference to all those around you.

Imagine that …

Being so connected and aligned, nothing could rock your boat?

Joyful, mindful living. Nothing to prove, nothing to hide, nothing to fear.

So that’s my advice in this new year –

Be one of these Good people. Find out how You really are.

Once you know where to look, it’s not too hard, really. It’s right within you, right now.

If I can help with that, let me know.

Have an amazing start to your year, and go well!
