What You Resist Persists

You ever wake up at 2am and the catastrophising disaster thoughts are already rampant?

A while ago, I had a couple of weeks where every night I was consumed by a huge fear of my life falling apart.

My immediate reaction was to get rid of it, shut it down, change the mind channel.

Resist!

… it just got worse.

Sweating and trembling, it took me a few nights before I worked out how to deal with it—

And it wasn’t trying to make it go away.

I couldn’t stop it, I couldn’t rationalise with it. I could only sit with it, completely, exactly as it was.

Surrendered.

I had to be VERY present, but this meant I wasn’t getting lost in the fear, that I could simply be with it.

When I stopped all fight?

The hard part completely evaporated.

The fear stayed intense, but it became 'just' another body sensation.

Nothing I had to fix, nothing to do, simply be with.

Guess what?

After 3 nights, it completely went, and never came back.

And now I have a formula for any fear, regardless of the ‘topic’, forevermore.

I now know how to deal with the phantom that is fear.

It’s not real. It’s all bark and no bite.

It’s been causing chaos inside me for decades – and all because I was afraid of it. I fed it my fear.

When I stopped feeding it, it died.

Who would have thought?!

Give it a try.

Go well,

Arjuna

PS.

You change your relationship with fear and you can truly help others, from experience.

I made a quick 5 video on the practical steps to dealing with fear. Here it is:
